I thought it went without saying not to leave dogs in parked cars in temperatures over 70 degrees but this weekend I rescued a new puppy who was left in a crate in the back of an SUV on a sweltering hot afternoon. The next day at a pet adoption event, several dogs were being set-up in the direct sunlight on a triple-digit day before I re-housed them in the air conditioned store. As a Pug owner, and now the owner of Olive, who is a black Pug and even more sensitive to heat, I am well educated in the dangers and warning signs of heat-stroke.
